Garage Flooring Tiles
Garage
flooring tiles
will no doubt make your garage look great but other benefits
should not be overlooked. Those benefits include:
hiding ugly cement damage, protect a new garage floor, increase
the value of your garage and home, could pick it up and
take it with you on your next move, easy to install, great
for other family activities, hobbies, and many more.
What
a lot of homeowners don't realize is they could forget about
laying a new garage cement floor and use tiles to cover
the cracks, chips and stained of your garage floor.
Some
things are consistant across the board with all garage tiles.
Most garage tiles are made out of high impact
polypropylene or flexible PVC which by some definitions
would include rubber tiles. All of them are easy
to clean, they will contain oil spills, drips, snow melt,
battery acid, etc. That layer between your garage floor
and the object will be protected. Lastly most garage
flooring tiles are interlocking and snap together with a
firm push of your hand (heal) or with a rubber mallet.
Here
is a list of garage flooring tiles and brand/manufacturer

Not
all garage flooring tiles are created equal. Some of the
lesser models will crack or dent or show wear or tear. You
can tell a lot about the quality of a garage tile by looking
at their warranty. Warranties that are above 20 years
will tell you that the manufacturer has a great deal of
confidence that their tiles will stand the test of time.
Lesser warranties (in years) might be able to withstand
some punishment but not everything you could throw at it.
Garage
flooring tiles are great for fast installation. Simply remove
all objects off the floor, sweep and start laying down your
tile. You do not need any glues, backing, etc. Simply lay
the tiles down, interlock them and trim a few spots that
are not square in the corners.
Some
garage tiles will make a noise as you drive over them but
not all. They are designed to provide a layer of insulation
as well as soften the noise or ascoustics of your garage.
If you are a creative type person you can design a
patterned floor in your garage. You can outline the
perimeter, use a solid color in betweenn or you can use
a checkered pattern.
I've
seen a garage that used two different types of tiles. One
tile was the heavy duty for vehicles and the other was for
where the homeowner uses as a hobby area. Those garage tiles
were softer which made it easy to work all day on the tile
without much fatique to his knee joints.
Others
have used surface patterns in different areas. For the parking
of vehicles they used the ribbed pattern to collect oils
and snow melt, smooth tiles around the vehicle parking area
and diamond for areas of work. Just keep in mind the
purpose of your garage tiles. Do you want to have
the ability to roll tool boxes, shop vac's or things like
that? If so, smooth finishes might be a better option
for you. Diamond or coin patterns are excellent no
slip surfaces.
You
will find different patents on garage tiles. 'For instance NORSK-Stor
garage flooring tiles are engineered with the patent pending
Air-Dry technology. This patent helps the NORSK-Stor
tiles to move air underneath the tiles to help water evaporate
quickly.
If you
find the price a little to steep to complete your entire
garage floor, your other option is to purchase your tiles
when you have the money. If you shop closely you will find
retailers that will pay for shipping if you purchase a minimum
amount.
