Where To Find Them Cheap

Garage Floor Covers

Nothing is more simple and easy than to use garage floor covers to hide ugly floor cracks or to protect your garage floor.  If you are looking to find a garage improvement look no further than adding some type of floor protector.  You have plenty of options when it comes to garage floor covers or floor covering products.  Here is a list of ideas:

  • vinyl flooring
  • roll-out flooring
  • garage floor covering mats
  • painting a garage floor (epoxy)
  • garage floor tiles

Garage Floor Protector One of the fastest and easiest floor covering products is mats. Better Life Technology (BLT) offers many different selections of blt roll-out garage mats. They are oftentimes called a parking mat and the installation is super simple. The installation instructions for roll-out mats are very straight forward and the best part of these mats is you can roll them up after the winter season and save some wear and tear.  These garage floor covers are limited in the sizes and color and most mats are simply used under the vehicle of choice. Garage floor mats are cheaper than epoxy or tile and they do a good job of keeping water contained.

Many people call these water containment mats because the water from snow melt stays within the borders of the mats.  If you have a slippery floor to begin with and you add water to the mix it can become a dangerous proposition.  Vinyl flooring and roll-out flooring are in this category.

Garage Floor Covers: Other Types

The two other types of garage floor covers are garage floor tiles and epoxy.  Both of these are not in any way associated with roll-out garage flooring.  The simpliest way to explain epoxy garage flooring is to tell you it’s simply painting a garage floor with a special paint that you can find at Home Depot or Lowes or any store that sells paint.  This type of material will cover your garage floor and protect it from various spills and drips.  However, it will not stop puddling or ice build up of snow melt.

What I do find funny is that your floor is usually gray in color and many folks end up painting their floors gray.  With all the available colors and sizes (tile sizes) option I truly wonder why people choose gray.  But it’s a personal preference and that’s the beauty of  garage floor covers.

A few other things to remember about Epoxy garage floors they need several coats so it is best to do it all at once, unless you are patient.  You do have to clean the floor prior to painting and all items need to be removed.  It can be an expensive unless you do it yourself.

The last garage floor covers are tiles.  Rubber tiles or vinyl tiles can also be expensive but when you are finished nothing will compare.  You want a show room appearance?  Want various patterns, need the comfort of safety, or don’t have enough money to complete your project then you might want to consider tiles.  I know a lot of friends who have taken 2 or 3 years to complete covering their garage floors with tiles.  What they do is purchase 5-10 boxes of tiles, Garage Floor Covers

lay them out and when they have more money the add more.  This is the beauty of garage floor covering tiles.

Garage Floor Covers:  Advantages or Not

Everything mentioned already will do a good job of floor protection. Each has it’s pluses and minuses. You have a plethora of sizes in floor covering. Cleaning your floor will be much  easier with these covers. The largest producer of garage floor Mats is BLT.  They are sold in many locations and you need to do is look for BLT roll-out mats.  Amazon is the easiest place to find these Parking mats and garage tiles. The big difference will be the price between all these different garage floor covers.

Garage floor mats will be cheaper per sq. ft than garage tiles but the durability is also a factor.  Epoxy garage floors is kind of in between these prices because it truly depends on how many coats you apply to the floor.  Installation instructions are included with each type of garage floor covers so be patient and follow the directions.

You can pick up rubber garage flooring with a 30 year guarantee versus a 5 year guarantee for garage mats.  If you divide the 30 years by the 5 years it’s no comparison.  If you multiply one garage floor mat 6 times, then the price of the rubber tiles comes out way ahead.

When considering garage floor covers also take in mind that any of the three methods can be a done it when you have the money tye of thing.  Epoxy garage floors need several coats so it is best to do it all at once, unless you are patient.  With tiles you can simply add on as you go.  Same with garage floor mats.

The most important aspect of garage floor coverings is the fact that they protect your floors and they can also work as containment item.  People living in snow country love containment mats because the snow melt is trapped on the mats or tiles without leaking all over the floor.  It keeps your garage clean and safe.

Both the garage mats and garage tiles work well at protecting your floors from battery acid, anti freeze, water, oil and other road grim.  They are both suseptible to rocks, gravel and other hard objects but what isn’t?
